This Carnival of Nonprofit Consultants has given me a chance to read some blogs I don’t usually get to read, since I’m so often focused in the tech field. All of these articles were interesting and thoughtful. It’s really nice to learn more about what people are talking about.
- Amy Kinkaid, of Fundraising Breakthroughs, has some great advice about asking for money without shame.
- Generative Transformation talks about what leadership is, and means – particularly that it means self-awareness.
- A Girl’s Guide to Managing Projects has a nice post about what Project Managers do all day, anyway.
- Getting Attention talks about boosting blog coverage – it can have good offline benefits for your organization.
- David Maister asks "What do consultants know?"
- Reasoned Audacity has some good tips on how to prepare for a radio or TV appearance.
And in realms more familiar:
- This week’s nptech tag roundup has some great stuff to read about

Michelle,
Just curious what you thought/opinion is of widgets? I’m working on a screencast about how one might use some of these low cost or free tools to build community around a blog.
I was also wondering if I could do a quick audio interview with you on this topic. Would take like 1-2 minutes – only need soundbyte
And just noticed that you are using the “online status” widget for typepad and would like to know what you think about that in terms of building community on a nonprofit blog? Good tool if used strategically or waste of time – foo foo crap.
I like widgets, for the most part. I haven’t tried really hard to use them to create community (and no one that I know has yet IMed me because they saw I was online from my blog.)
But there are some very cool and fun widgets. And sure, I’ll be glad to be interviewed.
I think I made it easy to add your voice.
